I was constantly busy, but felt an underlying nagging that I wasn't living in alignment or to my full potential. As I started to search for meaning, I kept falling into my old habits until my body forced me to surrender. My doctor told me I had developed a thyroid condition. I didn’t need the doctor’s diagnosis to know I needed to slow down, but the news finally pushed me forcefully toward healing.  I faced some harsh realities. I had to severely edit or entirely eliminate many of my daily habits including my diet, my sleep schedule, and my drinking. It took me a while to unpack just how much of my lifestyle was at the root of my new diagnosis and search for meaning, but my exhaustion and desperation to feel better eventually overpowered my stubborn disbelief. My diagnosis gave me the gift of clarity and with that, I started what I call my “deconditioning”.
